Collapsing Empire by John Scalzi
I always thought John Scalzi’s books were what sci-fi of the 70s and 80s would have been if the authors back then had more adventures and sex in their lives, and weren’t afraid to write about it.
The Collapsing Empire is a vast-scale sci-fi with a cast of characters made up of ruthless assholes, scheming bastards, perverts, and one hapless emperox. (That’s not a typo.)
