For the foreseeable future, most of us will be stuck home because of lockdowns and quarantines that are happening all around the globe. Human beings in isolation become lonely and irrate, they’re quick to anger, and spend most of their days trying to fast forward to better times, mostly by binge-watching shows, playing games, or scrolling through all available social media feeds, which, for some time, will be dominated by bad news.

The upcoming months will be tough, there’s no two ways about it. But wherever you are, I want you to remember you’re not alone, and that social distancing doesn’t have to mean social isolation and falling to pieces.

Why don’t we turn it into something positive? Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my writing habits to go to shit because of coronavirus-related stress. I’m guessing I’m not alone, so I’ve set up this online café, where we can hang out and write.

Here’s how it’s going to work:

  1. A video call at a specific time each day,
  2. Short introductions first,
  3. 90 minutes of focused work, we stay on the call,
  4. Hang out when we’re done.

The only caveat? You have to bring your own coffee.

How to Join?

There are going to be two writing sessions each day from today until Saturday. There will be more next week. And I’ll be there for each one to keep you company and offer support.

The tool we’re using is called Zoom. I covered the subscription cost so it’s free for participants. You can register here.

Lunchtime EU/Morning US session (19-21 of March):
Check specific time in the calendar invite.

Lunchtime US/Evening EU session (19-21 of March):
Check specific time in the calendar invite.

You can add the times to your calendar app from inside the invites.

I have also set up a #Slack channel for us to hang out in. You can join it by clicking here. Slack is also free.

See you there. Don’t let the virus get you down!
